Our book club is running on the 2nd Thursday of every month. It will be hosted by Eve Doran, at Radical Roasters in Easton.

Books are an amazing way to connect to our history. They allow us to experience the lives of others in situations we may recognise and show us characters who respond to their racial identity in complex and sincere ways. Each month we will choose a book that delves into mixed identity, from novels to memoirs and nonfiction, whatever the group feels like next! Conversations around race can often be framed in black and white, so the books we will choose from explore mixedness as a spectrum. It will be a very relaxed, open discussion, using the book’s themes to think about our own stories. Spoilers will be avoided, so if you haven’t had time to read it all, don’t worry!  

This month the group are reading The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett
