How would you describe your ethnicity?

I consider myself mixed: British, North-African and Arab or more simply British-Tunisian.

Where are your parents from?

My mum is from London and my biological father is from Sousse, Tunisia.

Has your mixed-ness influenced your career in any way?

As a film critic, my mixedness has made me more aware of the ways in which ethnicities are represented on screen, fairly or unfairly. It's made me cognizant of the need to have move diverse rep in front of the camera and behind it, as well as writing reviews, to reflect the myriad ways in which mixedness is lived and experienced.

If you could describe your mixed identity in one word, what would it be?

Encompassing.

What is the best thing about being mixed heritage?

Having a connection to multiple cultures through the way I look. Feeling a kinship to so many people who have for too long felt unable to stake a claim to their multiple ethnic heritages.
